A/Prof Chris Mills

Associate Professor Chris Mills is a renowned Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist, currently serving as a Consultant Physician in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. With a passion for providing medical care to rural communities, Chris is committed to delivering world-class gastroenterology and endoscopy services to the Gippsland region.

Having completed his medical degree in South Australia, Chris returned to Victoria to pursue specialist training at esteemed institutions such as Monash Health, Latrobe Regional Hospital, Warragul Hospital, Bendigo Hospital, and The Austin. His dedication to excellence led him to acquire specialised endoscopic training at The Northern and the prestigious Victorian Liver Transplant and Australasian Intestinal Transplant Services based at The Austin. Chris has been extensively trained by global experts in interventional endoscopic techniques, making him the only sub-specialist endoscopist in Gippsland.

In his practice, Chris offers a broad range of gastroenterology and endoscopy services, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and capsule endoscopy (Pill Cam). However, his areas of expertise lie in endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS), and minimally invasive endoscopic weight loss procedures.

Chris maintains a bustling medical practice, catering to patients with various gastrointestinal conditions such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Functional Gut Disorders, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and Liver Disorders. He also accepts referrals for patients in need of inpatient management at Warragul Hospital, Neerim South Hospital, Maryvale Private Hospital, and Latrobe Regional Hospital.

Believing in a comprehensive and collaborative approach to patient care, Chris actively collaborates with surgeons, physicians, and allied health professionals to provide holistic treatment plans. He firmly advocates for cohesive teamwork and aims to establish a multidisciplinary specialist service to ensure patients receive the highest level of care.

In addition to his clinical practice, Chris holds teaching appointments as an Associate Professor of Medicine at The University of Melbourne and Monash University School of Rural Health in Gippsland. His contributions to medical research are evidenced by his publication of over 30 articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals.

Outside of his professional commitments, Chris enjoys spending quality time with his partner, young son, and baby daughter on their 80-acre beef cattle farm in Neerim South. His dedication to serving his community extends beyond medical practice, as he actively participates in tending to his farm and cherishes the peaceful and picturesque lifestyle it offers.
