Dr Cheriya Abdulla

Dr. Cheriya Abdulla is an esteemed senior consultant in paediatrics with over 30 years of experience. He currently serves as a specialist paediatrician in the Ipswich West Moreton region, consulting privately at St. Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital and as a senior staff specialist paediatrician at Ipswich General Hospital. Dr. Abdulla’s training and experience spans across several countries including India, the UK, USA, and Japan.

After completing five years of specialty training in paediatrics and neonatology in India, Dr. Abdulla pursued further training and experience in paediatrics in London, UK where he worked as a consultant paediatrician at BHR University Hospital for 10 years before relocating to Australia.

Dr. Abdulla’s special interests and extensive experience lie in neonatology, acute paediatrics including paediatric emergencies, behavioural and developmental paediatrics. He is also proficient in managing children with difficult medical problems, obesity, behavioural problems, chronic abdominal pain, and chronic constipation.

Dr. Abdulla’s passion for education and teaching has led him to become a senior lecturer at The University of Queensland where he was awarded a teaching excellence award in 2016. Dr. Abdulla has presented several papers in international meetings in London, Dubai, Australia, and India.

During Dr. Abdulla's consultations, he enjoys teaching medical students, junior doctors, and trainees in paediatrics. Additionally, he is available to give educational presentations to GP practices and interested parent groups utilizing his previous experience in education of GP’s and the community.

Dr. Abdulla is available for telehealth consultations and welcomes enquiries on his mobile phone for individual patient care or general advice. He is also a RACP supervisor for trainees in paediatrics and a peer reviewer of overseas trained paediatricians.
