Dr Benjamin Cass

Dr Benjamin Cass is an orthopaedic surgeon based in St Leonards, Sydney. He specializes in surgeries relating to the elbow and shoulder, specifically upper limb procedures. Dr Cass is affiliated with North Shore Private Hospital and Castlecrag Private Hospital.

After completing his medical training at Sydney University and the Australian Orthopaedic Association Training Scheme, Dr Cass obtained his American Board Exams accreditation. In 2005, he further honed his skills in shoulder and elbow surgeries through post-fellowship training at The Mayo Clinic.

Dr Cass has a keen interest in arthroscopic surgery and joint replacement. He is particularly experienced in shoulder reconstruction and replacement for tendon or labral tears, instability, and arthritis. Dr Cass utilizes both arthroscopic and open surgical techniques to provide the best care for his patients.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Cass is actively involved in research. He serves on the Board of the Institute of Bone and Joint Research at Sydney University and is the director of Sydney Shoulder Research Institute. He has published numerous papers in the field of shoulder and elbow surgeries.

Dr Cass is committed to advancing the field of orthopaedic surgery and has trained two overseas surgeons each year through a Fellowship based at Royal North Shore Hospital. He is a sought-after speaker at conferences and workshops both in Australia and overseas.

Since 2010, Dr Cass has also dedicated his time to the development of new shoulder replacement systems as a design surgeon. He shares his expertise by training other surgeons worldwide on the use of these tools.

In addition to his private practice, Dr Cass is actively involved in providing specialist services to rural patients in Dubbo every eight weeks. He has been practicing at various hospitals, including North Shore Private, Royal North Shore, and The Mater, since 2006. Dr Cass is also part of the on-call roster at Royal North Shore Hospital, dealing with complicated orthopaedic trauma and reconstruction.
