Dr. Aron Chakera is an experienced clinician practicing in all aspects of renal diseases, with a particular focus on chronic kidney disease, autoimmune and metabolic diseases impacting the kidney, transplant and dialysis. His specialized skills include the insertion of lines for dialysis and renal biopsies. He is highly competent in providing superior patient care based on the latest research evidence and guidelines. Dr. Chakera emphasizes early detection and screening of at-risk patients to prevent the progression of kidney diseases and lower cardiovascular risks. Dr. Chakera has a professional experience as a consultant renal and transplant physician at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and he is also serving as a research associate professor at UWA. Dr. Chakera earned his medical degree from the University of Western Australia, followed by a Ph.D. in renal medicine and transplantation from the University of Oxford and Oxford Kidney Unit. His research expertise integrates seamlessly with his clinical practice, as he is the Head of the Translational Renal Research Group, based in the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research (formerly WAIMR). His group is involved in researching immune functions, the impact of immune suppression, and interactions between the immune system and common pathogens. Overall, Dr. Chakera's clinical experience and research involvement reflect his commitment to achieving the highest possible standards of patient care through evidence-based approaches and utilising cutting-edge research.
