Dr Ali Safaa

Dr Ali Safaa is a highly skilled and accomplished cardiologist based in Ringwood, Melbourne. With a specialization in interventional cardiology, Dr Safaa has gained extensive experience in complex percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and intracoronary imaging techniques, including Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). He is also well-versed in coronary physiologic assessment using Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) technology.

Dr Safaa obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from Babylon University in Iraq, where he graduated as the top medical student. His exceptional academic achievements were recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Top Medical School Graduate in Iraq and the Ministry of Health Award.

After completing his medical training, Dr Safaa pursued further education and training in the field of cardiology. He completed his basic and advanced training at prestigious hospitals in Queensland, including the Gold Coast University Hospital and Prince Charles Hospital. Dr Safaa's passion for interventional cardiology led him to undertake an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the Royal Perth Hospital, where he performed over 3000 procedures and conducted several research projects.

Keen to expand his expertise, Dr Safaa then joined Wellington Hospital in New Zealand as an Interventional Cardiology Fellow. During his time there, he focused on complex cases and further honed his skills in a variety of interventional techniques. Dr Safaa's dedication and commitment to his field of expertise have earned him the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Fellowship of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand.

In 2016, Dr Safaa joined GenesisCare, where he quickly established himself as a valued member of the team. He has become renowned for his excellence in consultation, coronary intervention, and diagnostic procedures, including coronary angioplasty and diagnostic angiograms.
