Dr Yulia Furlong is a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist based in Booragoon, Perth. She is specialized in the treatment of mental health disorders in children and adolescents. With a primary focus on Oppositional Defiance, ADHD, Anxiety, Autism, Behavioural Issues, Bipolar Disorder, Coping Skills, Depression, Dual Diagnosis, Emotional Disturbance, Eating Disorders, Parenting, Peer Relationships, School Issues, Self Esteem, Sleep or Insomnia, Sports Performance, Stress, Tic disorders, Trauma & PTSD, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Gambling Addiction, Gaming Addiction, Grief & Loss, Life Coaching, Life Transitions, Medication Management & Reconciliation, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

Dr Furlong obtained her Research Doctorate Degree in Psychiatry and is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, fellow of the Australia and New Zealand Royal College of Psychiatrists, and accredited member of the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Western Australia and holds the position of chair of the WA Psychotropic Medication Group.

Apart from her clinical practice, Dr Furlong is an active researcher with several key original publications in the field of childhood onset neuro-disabilities. She has contributed to significant works including the prestigious new Oxford Textbook of Neuropsychiatry and "Autism Spectrum Disorder - Profile, Heterogeneity, Neurobiology, and Intervention."

With a multi-disciplinary approach to mental health care, Dr Furlong has extensive experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, non-English speaking individuals, and families. Her expertise lies in ADHD, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorders, bipolar disorder, brain injury, complex trauma, conversion disorder, depression, developmental disabilities, eating disorders, epilepsy, family therapy, interpersonal therapy, mentalization-based therapy, neuropsychiatry, obsessive-compulsive disorders, oppositional defiant disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, prolonged grief, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and psychotherapy.

Dr Furlong provides a range of services, including opinion and reports (MBS item 291), as well as after-hours appointments. She is also available for telehealth consultations. Fluent in English and Russian, Dr Furlong ensures effective communication with her patients.
