Dr Yash Gawarikar

Dr Yash Gawarikar is a highly qualified neurologist in Canberra, Australia, who founded and directs the Canberra Region Neurology and Pain Centre. He graduated from the University of Mumbai in 1999, completed his post-graduate degree in Medicine, and then underwent FRACP and neurology training in Newcastle and Canberra. Dr Gawarikar has extensive experience in treating a wide range of neurological disorders, including Parkinson's/movement disorder, multiple sclerosis, peripheral neuropathy, muscle disorders, functional neurological, dizziness/vestibular disorders, and dementia.

His special areas of interest include acute stroke research and the restructuring of acute stroke services in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). Dr Gawarikar established the stroke service at Calvary Public Hospital in 2013 and served as the director until 2022. He is a member of several leading neurology organisations, including the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), the World Stroke Organisation (WSO), and the Australasian Stroke Trials Network (ASTN).

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Gawarikar is a committed educator and researcher. He is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in neurology at the Australian National University (ANU) medical school and has contributed significantly to the development of medical undergraduate, basic physician trainees, and neurology advanced training programs. He is also the principal investigator at Calvary hospital for several clinical trials and has published in several journals.
