Dr Shivram Nadkarni

Dr. Shivram Nadkarni is an accomplished eye surgeon who has been practising for more than thirty years. He completed his undergraduate studies and post-graduate training in Ophthalmology at the acclaimed Bombay University in Mumbai. He is a recognized ophthalmologist by the National Board in New Delhi.

Throughout his career, Dr. Nadkarni has undergone intensive training in Cataract, Squint, Paediatric Ophthalmology and Medical Retina in some of the world's renowned hospitals such as All India Institute Of Medical Science in New Delhi, LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad (India), Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute in San Francisco, Singapore National Eye Centre, Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, and Woman and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide.

In 2018, Dr. Nadkarni moved to Australia to further his training and is now a Fellow of the Royal Australian and NZ College of Ophthalmologists. Apart from his expertise in the field, Dr. Nadkarni is passionate about teaching and has delivered numerous lectures for medical students, optometry students, and ophthalmology trainees in India and Australia. He is renowned for his exceptional teaching skills, and his trainees voted him the best teacher in a 4-day training program for ophthalmology trainees of Western India. Additionally, ophthalmology trainees of Sydney Eye Hospital have rated him among the top.

Dr. Nadkarni is affiliated with multiple organizations, including All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), Squint and Paediatric Ophthalmology Society of India (SPOSI), World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS), and Australian Society of Ophthalmology (ASO).

Over his career, Dr. Nadkarni has conducted more than 10,000 cataract surgeries and 1000 squint surgeries. He is experienced in various surgical procedures like pterygium, glaucoma, eyelid surgeries, as well as tear duct surgeries. He also performs lasers for diabetic and glaucoma patients. Currently, he is a Visiting Medical Officer in the John Hunter Hospital and operates out of John Hunter Hospital and Warners Bay Private Hospital.

Apart from his work, Dr. Nadkarni is fluent in several Indian languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Konkani, and Gujrati. He enjoys various activities in his leisure time like bike riding and meeting up with friends.
