Dr Richard Fleming

Dr Richard Fleming is an experienced Ophthalmologist based in North Adelaide, Australia. With over 20 years of dedicated service in the field of ophthalmology, he is respected for his expertise and commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

Dr Fleming obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from the prestigious University of Adelaide in 1989. Following this, he pursued further specialization in Ophthalmology, successfully completing his ophthalmology training in both Sydney and Adelaide. In 2000, he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO), which further recognized his advanced skills and knowledge in the field.

Demonstrating his commitment to advancing the field of ophthalmology, Dr Fleming served as a Senior Visiting Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital from 2001 until 2017. During this time, he actively participated in training aspiring ophthalmologists, sharing his knowledge and expertise. Moreover, he has been involved in overseas teaching trips organized by Sight for All.

Dr Fleming has made significant contributions to the SA Branch of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) as a committee member for 14 years and has held the position of Secretary/Treasurer. Furthermore, from 2005 to 2011, he served on the RANZCO Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Committee, where he played a crucial role in shaping the professional development of ophthalmologists in Australia.

Recognizing his outstanding achievements and dedication to his field, Dr Fleming was awarded the K.G. Howsam medal for excellence in the fellowship examination in 1998.
