Dr Rajeev Chalasani is an accomplished ophthalmologist specialising in retinal diseases and conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and vein occlusion. Based in Hurstville, New South Wales, Australia, Dr Chalasani has established himself as a leading expert in his field.
Dr Chalasani obtained his Bachelor of Optometry (Honors), Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Honors), and Master of Public Health (Honors) degrees from the University of New South Wales. He graduated with First Class Honors, showcasing his dedication and exceptional academic abilities.
After completing his internship and junior medical years at Concord Hospital in Sydney, Dr Chalasani served as a medical registrar at St. Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, as well as at Broken Hill Hospital and Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital. As a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, Dr Chalasani is recognized for his extensive knowledge and high level of expertise. He is also a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists, further highlighting his commitment to staying up to date with the latest advancements in the field.
Dr Chalasani holds the position of Staff Specialist at Westmead Hospital Sydney, where he provides comprehensive medical management for various retinal conditions. He has actively participated in major international clinical trials focused on researching retinal diseases, demonstrating his dedication to advancing medical knowledge and improving patient care.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Chalasani is passionate about teaching. He actively contributes to the education and training of medical students, optometrists, and general practitioners. This commitment to sharing knowledge and expertise ensures that he is at the forefront of training the next generation of medical professionals.
Dr Chalasani's enthusiasm for medical technology led him to complete a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of New South Wales.
