As the head of the Bariatric Surgery Department at Northern Beaches Hospital, Dr Phil Le Page is a highly experienced Bariatric and Upper Gastro-intestinal surgeon with over 10 years of experience and more than 2000 patients treated. He specialises in the management of bariatric surgery, gallstones, hernia, reflux, hiatus hernia, gastric and oesophageal cancer, Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, and other general surgical conditions. Dr Le Page primarily operates at the Northern Beaches, Concord, and Sydney Adventist Hospitals, where he has been working for over a decade. His expertise extends to a wide range of weight loss surgeries, such as laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, single-loop (or mini) gastric bypass, Roux-en-y gastric bypass, gastric banding, and Single Anastomosis Duodeno-ileal bypass (SADI).
At his practice, Dr Le Page sits down with patients to discuss the appropriate course of action based on their unique health circumstances. This may include dietary measures, Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG), gastric ballooning, and medical managements, such as Duromine, Ozempic, and Saxenda. Patients have access to supportive care at the Northern Beaches Hospital, where the most advanced technology, including robotic surgery, is readily available. Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols are also implemented to facilitate early recovery, improved post-surgery experiences, and earlier discharge home.
In addition to bariatric surgery, Dr Le Page also performs complex surgeries, such as revision bariatric surgery, and surgeries for reflux or hiatus hernia, gallstones, and hernias. He employs laparoscopic techniques where appropriate, and specialises in the repair of the hiatus hernia defect with fundoplication, choledochoscopy for removal of common bile duct stones, and recurrent hernias.
Dr Le Page was one of the first graduating trainees with the Australian and New Zealand Gastro-Oesophageal Association (ANZGOSA) in 2010. He further honed his skills in 2013 through advanced training in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. His expertise and commitment to offering the most advanced surgical techniques make him a leading surgeon in the field.
