Dr. Peter Lange is a physician and geriatrician with extensive experience in the field of medicine. He completed his undergraduate degree in physiology and pharmacology from the University of Queensland, followed by post-graduate medicine from the same university. He then worked in Queensland for a few years before moving to Melbourne in 2005 to complete his advanced training in physician and geriatrics at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Since 2010, he has been working as a clinician in both departments, and later, in 2012, Dr. Lange was appointed head of the Assessment and Planning Unit at RMH, now renamed the Acute Medical Unit, which he still heads.
Dr. Lange is passionate about research, and in 2016, he began his PhD on the topic, "Delirium in Hospitalised Elderly; changing the Natural History” at the University of Melbourne. This drive towards research formalised his interest in delirium, a condition that affects many older adults. He has published several papers aimed at understanding the condition and improving the quality of care for patients who experience it.
Dr. Lange is also a consultant at the Melbourne Private Hospital and Showgrounds Specialist Centre. In this role, he provides comprehensive geriatric assessment services to older patients who may require Transcutaneous Aortic Valve Implantation. Through his work, Dr. Lange has significantly contributed to improving the health of older adults, and his expertise in geriatrics is highly regarded in Melbourne's medical community.
