Dr Peter Fon

Dr Peter Fon is a renowned consultant radiation oncologist with expertise in various aspects of oncology. He currently serves as a consultant at Icon Cancer Centre Mackay and also offers consultations at Townsville Cancer Centre. Dr Fon embarked on his radiation oncology training at the esteemed Queensland Radium Institute and subsequently completed his training at the prestigious Royal Marsden Hospital in London, UK.

Having dedicated over two decades to serving the community in North Queensland, Dr Fon initially worked as a general radiation oncologist, adeptly treating a diverse range of cancers. However, over the past few years, he has focused on developing his skills in subspecialties such as prostate cancer, bladder cancer, gynaecological cancer, and rectal cancer.

Dr Fon's professional interests extend to brachytherapy for prostate and gynaecological cancers, demonstrating his commitment to employing innovative and effective treatment methods. Additionally, he possesses extensive knowledge and experience in radionuclide therapy, including the treatment of thyroid cancer.

While Dr Fon has established himself as an expert in subspecialties, he remains resolute in his dedication to providing comprehensive care to patients battling major cancers prevalent in North Queensland, including breast and skin cancer.

Recognized for his exemplary contributions to the field, Dr Fon is affiliated with esteemed organizations such as the Faculty of Radiation Oncology Genito-Urinary Group (FROGG), the Australian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group (AGITG), the Australasian Brachytherapy Group (ABG), and the Trans Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG). Moreover, he holds fellowships in three prestigious colleges, namely the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), the Royal College of Radiologists (UK), and the Royal College of Surgeons (Ireland).
