Dr Lalith Gamage

Dr Lalith Gamage is a highly skilled and dedicated Paediatrician specialising in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency Medicine. With a strong passion for providing compassionate care to children, from newborns to teenagers, he is committed to guiding both the child and their family through various medical challenges to achieve the best physical and psychosocial outcomes. Dr Gamage obtained his medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka, followed by a Doctor of Medicine in Paediatrics from the same university. He also holds a Diploma of Child and Youth Health from the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide, Australia, as well as a Diploma of Child and Youth Health from Sri Lanka's Postgraduate Institute of Medicine. In 2012, Dr Gamage was admitted into Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, specialising in Paediatrics. He has completed extensive training at renowned healthcare institutions including the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Lyell McEwin Hospital, and Flinders Medical Centre. Dr Gamage has a special interest in Behavioural Paediatrics and is highly experienced in managing children with challenging behaviors. He has received additional training in Autism Spectrum Disorder and is accredited for Autism assessment. Furthermore, Dr Gamage has expertise in diagnosing and managing children with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Currently, Dr Gamage serves as a consultant Paediatric Emergency Physician at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide, where he provides crucial care in emergency situations. He also works as a General Paediatrician at the Port Augusta Hospital. Dr Gamage's wealth of experience and knowledge in both emergency medicine and general paediatrics enables him to provide holistic and comprehensive care to his young patients. Dr Gamage has made significant contributions to the medical field, including co-authoring a retrospective case series on the management of paediatric spontaneous pneumothorax, published in the British Medical Journal. His dedication to research and scholarly pursuits ensures that he remains at the forefront of medical advancements and best practices. In addition to his professional pursuits, Dr Gamage is fluent in Sinhala, providing language support to families who prefer to communicate in their native language.
