Dr Kong-Chan Tang is an experienced Ophthalmic Surgeon, specialising in medical retinal diseases, with a keen interest in treating age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. He completed his training at the prestigious Sydney Eye Hospital and pursued a fellowship in medical retina at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital with Professor Lawrence Yannuzi. In 1999, he returned to Orange and has since been working in both private practice and Orange Health Service.
Dr Tang has a wide range of expertise, including cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and paediatric squint surgery. He is passionate about providing comprehensive eye care services to his patients and remains up to date with the latest advancements in the field.
Currently practicing at MidWest Ophthalmology, a well-equipped private Ophthalmology practice in Orange, Dr Tang also runs clinics at the Lithgow Community Private Medical Centre and Forbes Medical Centre. He holds appointments at various hospitals, including Dudley Private Hospital, Lithgow Community Private Hospital, Orange Health Service, Forbes Hospital, and Lithgow Hospital. These clinics and hospitals are equipped with advanced diagnostic equipment and offer comprehensive services such as retinal laser treatment, minor surgery, and injection of intravitreal medication for macular degeneration and diabetes.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Tang is actively involved in training medical students from the Rural School University of Sydney in Orange, The Notre Dame University in Lithgow, and students from Wollongong University at Forbes. He believes in nurturing the future generation of ophthalmologists and contributing to the development of the field.
Dr Tang is a member of the Fiji Eye Project, which provides free cataract surgery to patients at Lautoka Hospital.
