Dr Khalid Ahmed

Dr Khalid Ahmed is a highly qualified and experienced general surgeon with a broad range of skills including reflux, hiatus hernia and weight loss surgery. He completed his medical degree at the College of Medicine in Iraq and went on to complete his internship and residency in Iraq before gaining GMC registration in the UK. In 2007, he migrated to Australia where he spent six years working as a junior general surgeon registrar in multiple subspecialties. He then completed an MSC in general surgery and transplant from the University of Sydney before enrolling in the advanced general surgical training program from RACS in Western Sydney hospitals, including Westmead, Nepean, Blacktown and Auburn. During this time, he also undertook subspecialties in advanced ENT, Vascular, Urology, acute surgical unit and rural surgery.

In 2020, Dr Ahmed worked as a Senior Registrar in a busy complex colorectal unit at Liverpool Hospital, gaining exposure to complex laparoscopic colorectal and pelvic exenteration. He then undertook a Fellowship in the Upper GI Unit at Wollongong Public Hospital and Wollongong Private Hospital in 2021, gaining experience in gastric, oesophageal and pancreatic surgeries as well as bariatric surgery. In 2022, Dr Ahmed gained extensive bariatric experience, predominantly with Sydney Metabolic Surgery and The Life Weight Loss Center, where he gained exposure to a wide range of sleeve, bi partition bypass and transit bi partition bypass surgeries.

Dr Ahmed has a broad range of special interests, including general and weight loss surgery, hiatal hernia surgery, anti-reflux surgery, gall bladder surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, laparoscopic surgery, abdominal wall hernias, haemorrhoid management, skin lesion and cancer surgery, ingrown toenail surgery, carpal tunnel surgery, gastroscopy and colonoscopy. With his extensive training and experience across multiple specialties, Dr Ahmed is equipped to help patients with a wide range of surgical needs.
