Dr Ian Smith

Dr Ian Smith is a skilled urologist with extensive experience in benign and malignant urological practice. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in medicine in 2004 from Sydney University and completed his specialist training in Urology at major teaching hospitals across Australia, including Sydney and regional centers. He has further honed his skills in laparoscopic minimally invasive surgical techniques by spending a year in Victoria, where he learned laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, partial nephrectomy, and pyeloplasty.

Dr. Smith moved to Tamworth from Sydney to offer his expertise to the already excellent Urology service in the region. He is passionate about teaching junior doctors and engaging with those who choose to undertake regional terms, helping to ensure the future of regional medicine in Australia stays robust. Dr. Smith is also a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in the field of Urology.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Smith is a devoted family man with three young children. He and his partner are delighted to become part of the Tamworth community and are looking forward to serving the region for many years to come.
