A/Prof Graham Radford-Smith is a greatly respected gastroenterologist with expertise in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), colorectal neoplasia, and non-inflammatory gut disorders. He is based in Taringa, 4068, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and is affiliated with North West Private Hospital.
In 1997, Dr. Radford-Smith established the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) centre at the renowned Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH). He made significant contributions to IBD care by introducing Australia’s first series of IBD specialist clinics in 1997 and IBD nurses in 2002, setting a new standard for IBD care in the country.
Aside from his clinical practice, Dr. Radford-Smith is an honorary group leader at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute where he heads the Gut Health research group. He also serves as an Associate Professor at the University of Queensland's Faculty of Medicine, where he plays an active role in teaching medical students. Furthermore, he holds the position of Chair of the ANZ IBD consortium of clinicians, where he fosters collaboration and knowledge sharing among IBD professionals in Australasia.
Dr. Radford-Smith is also actively involved with Crohn’s Colitis Cure, a charity dedicated to funding research and improving clinical practice for patients with IBD. His extensive expertise and commitment to enhancing IBD care and research contribute to his influential role as a leader in the field of gastroenterology in Australia and beyond.
