Dr. David Shooter offers a subspecialty practice in hip and knee replacements, as well as revision surgery and infection management. He also performs ACL reconstructions and manages most fractures, as well as some general orthopaedics eg open carpal tunnel release, trigger finger surgery, knee arthroscopy etc. Dr Shooter performs "robotic" knee surgery, and patient-specific image-guided hip replacements. He has several years experience in this type of surgery both in Australia and the UK. Dr Shooter is one of the few surgeons in Australia qualified to surgically manage orthopaedic oncology conditions, such as bone and soft tissue sarcomas, as well as metastatic conditions from other cancer types. He works closely with both radiation and medical oncologists with both the Icon and Genesis groups, and has access to cutting edge imaging technology, including the latest in PET scans, through the Lumus group at St Vincents Private Hospital Northside. He achieved his oncology fellowship qualifications at the Bone Tumour and Reconstruction Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London, England, which is the premier orthopaedic oncology unit in the UK and one of the top institutions in Europe, with an effective catchment area of over fifty million people. Dr Shooter also has an extensive medicolegal practice, with more than ten years experience in the field. He performs workcover assessments; and is on three WorkCover Queensland panels for Independent Medical Examination. Dr Shooter also performs medical negligence assessments, both plaintiff and defence, and offers a free triage service for plaintiffs.
