Prof David Barnes is a Respiratory Physician specialising in Sleep Medicine. He obtained his medical qualifications including a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney, Australia in 1978. He went on to complete a fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1985. Prof Barnes has a wealth of experience in his field and has been a Clinical Professor at the University of Sydney.
Prof Barnes has a special interest in respiratory and sleep medicine, with a focus on severe asthma. He also has extensive experience in the management and treatment of general respiratory disorders, lung cancer, respiratory infections, sleep apnea, assessment of lung nodules, tuberculosis, and COPD.
Throughout his career, Prof Barnes has made significant contributions to medical research, with numerous publications in well-respected journals. He has published on a wide range of topics including pleural effusions, pneumonia, jaundice, asthma education, tuberculosis, lung cancer, sleep apnea, and antibiotic protocols for pneumonia.
