Dr Dave Carmody

Dr Dave Carmody is a highly qualified psychiatrist specializing in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. With vast experience in the field, he currently serves as the director of Call to Mind, located in Melbourne, Victoria. Dr Carmody obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the prestigious University of Melbourne in 2010, followed by his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2020.

Dr Carmody has a particular interest in working with young people who have experienced trauma or suffer from symptoms of depression, anxiety, psychosis, or neurodevelopmental disorders. With a holistic and systemic approach to recovery, he aims to assist both the young individuals and their families in overcoming mental health difficulties and distress.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, Dr Carmody enjoys pursuing his hobbies outside of work. He is an avid woodworker and is often found riding his Triumph motorcycle during his free time.

Dr Dave Carmody offers a comprehensive range of services, including bulk-billing for selected patients, expert opinions and reports (MBS item 291), shared care, and weekly psychotherapy sessions. He also provides services across various age groups, ranging from mother and baby, to adolescents, and young adults aged 16-24. Moreover, Dr Carmody has gained extensive experience working with diverse populations, such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, doctors, psychiatrists or medical students, gender diverse and gay/lesbian individuals, as well as families.

Throughout his career, Dr Carmody has developed expertise in various areas of psychiatry, including but not limited to ADHD, Autism spectrum disorders, Bipolar disorder, Complex trauma, Depression, Developmental disability, Eating disorders, Family therapy, Family violence, Mentalisation-based therapy, Mindfulness, Obsessive-compulsive disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Personality disorders, Post-traumatic stress disorder, Psychodynamic psychotherapy, Psychosis, Psychotherapy, Schizophrenia, and Sexual assault/abuse treatment.
