Dr Andrie Stroebel

Born in South Africa, Dr. Stroebel is a cardiothoracic surgeon with an extensive and diverse medical background. He received his medical degree from Stellenbosch University in 1999 and began his career working in general practice in South Africa and the United Kingdom. Afterward, he started his general surgical training at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, where he gained invaluable exposure to trauma as a general surgical registrar in Africa’s only Level One trauma unit.

In 2006, he moved to Bloemfontein to pursue his training as a cardiothoracic surgeon. His dedication to broadening his experience led him to a 12-month position at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, United Kingdom, where he received special cardiothoracic training. After completing his training in Bloemfontein, he was awarded a Master’s Degree and a Fellowship of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in cardiothoracic surgery.

His passion for expanding his knowledge and expertise resulted in his being appointed as the postgraduate fellow in cardiothoracic surgery at the Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane in 2011. Since then, he has been awarded the Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery from the RACS in 2013, and in 2014, he became a staff specialist in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. In January 2015, he joined the newly established department of cardiothoracic surgery at the Gold Coast University Hospital. He has been trained on three continents and has been exposed to all aspects of cardiothoracic surgery and a diverse variety of pathology.

Dr. Stroebel takes a holistic approach to patient care and works closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patients’ outcomes. His goal is to deliver the best possible state-of-the-art medical care, based on current evidence, to his patients. Dr. Stroebel is now offering comprehensive thoracic surgery services at Pindara Private Hospital.
