Dr Alison Bryant-Smith is a highly skilled consultant obstetrician/gynaecologist specialising in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery. She is based in Richmond, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and is affiliated with Frances Perry House.

Dr Bryant-Smith completed her medical training at the University of Melbourne and went on to complete her basic obstetric and gynecology specialty training at the renowned Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne. She furthered her training with a year-long placement at the prestigious Royal Darwin Hospital.

To expand her surgical expertise, Dr Bryant-Smith worked for three years at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in London, where she gained invaluable experience. She also completed her Master of Surgical Education at Imperial College London, focusing on gynecology trainees' motivations for laparoscopic simulation training.

In 2019, Dr Bryant-Smith qualified as a consultant obstetrician/gynaecologist and subsequently pursued an advanced laparoscopic gynaecology Fellowship with A/Prof Alan Lam in Sydney, where she acquired and adopted A/Prof Lam's surgical techniques. During her fellowship, she actively participated in the surgical care of patients with severe endometriosis and numerous fibroids. She received extensive training in performing laparoscopic hysterectomy and laparoscopic myomectomy, among other complex operations.

In addition to her practice, Dr Bryant-Smith is actively involved in research to provide evidence-based care to her patients. She has had her work published in esteemed medical journals such as The Obstetrician & Gynaecologist (UK), The British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (UK), and the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynaecology (USA). Currently, Dr Bryant-Smith is conducting research on a potential biomarker for endometriosis, a study on antibiotic use at a tertiary hospital, and a survey of gynaecologists' specimen extraction techniques.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr Bryant-Smith enjoys spending quality time with her family and pursuing her passion for running. She has completed marathons in Melbourne, Queenstown, Singapore, London, and New York. Notably, she captained the first-ever all-female team to win the Oxfam 100km Trailwalker event in Melbourne in 2007.

Dr Bryant-Smith has a deep commitment to teaching and is a Clinical Teaching Fellow at the University of Melbourne. She frequently instructs on surgical courses and serves as an examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr Bryant-Smith takes pride in offering her extensive surgical skills to her patients at Frances Perry House, where she was also born.
