Mr Abhay Khot

Mr Abhay Khot is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Paediatric Orthopaedics, Paediatric Trauma, and the management of Neuromuscular Conditions such as Cerebral Palsy. With over 15 years of experience, he is dedicated to providing the best possible care for his patients and their families.

Abhay obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Pune in India in 1990. He completed his training in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1995 and also obtained a Masters degree in Surgery. During this time, he worked as a Lecturer in Anatomy and taught undergraduate students.

From 1996 to 2004, Abhay trained in the UK in the higher surgical training program in Orthopaedics at Cambridge. He obtained his Fellowship from the College of Surgeons in 2000 and became a Consultant in Orthopaedics in 2004. In the same year, he moved to Melbourne and completed a Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedics at the Royal Children's Hospital.

Abhay joined the Royal Children's Hospital and Sunshine Hospital as a consultant. At RCH, he developed a special interest in Gait Analysis and the Orthopaedic management of Cerebral Palsy. At Sunshine Hospital, he helped establish the Paediatric Orthopaedic Service and provided care for pediatric fractures, hip dysplasia, and CTEV.

In 2012, Abhay became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Since 2013, he has been focused on his practice in Paediatric Orthopaedics, with a special interest in Neuromuscular conditions like Cerebral Palsy. He provides consultant expertise at RCH, Monash Health, and outreach services in Tasmania, aiming to deliver comprehensive Orthopaedic management throughout childhood.

Abhay is actively involved in education and research, with numerous presentations and publications. He has been part of the faculty at the Gait Course and has presented at instructional courses and symposia both in Australia and overseas. He also enjoys working and teaching overseas, collaborating with local medical experts and NGO workers in Vietnam, Cambodia, and India.

With his dedication to improving the quality of care, Abhay has led the development of educational and management programs in various hospitals, following the belief that it is better to train ten than to treat a thousand.
