Ulverstone is an Australian town situated on the northern coast of the island state of Tasmania. Falling under the local government area of the Central Coast Council, Ulverstone lies on the starting point of the River Leven.

The town is located on the Bass Highway 12 km east of Penguin and 21 km west of Devonport. The municipality of the Central Coast Council also includes Turners Beach, Penguin, Leith, Forth, Gawler, and its surrounding areas.

Ulverstone recorded a population of 14,490 inhabitants as of June 2018, which made the region the largest town in Tasmania. Some of the notable people who live or have lived in Ulverstone include Nita Burke, David Neitz, Richard Fromberg, and others.

History of Ulverstone The Europeans first set their feet in Ulverstone in 1848 by Andrew Risby, his wife Louisa, and their five children.

The area received new settlers as well as timber getters during the 1850s.

Facilities in Ulverstone Ulverstone is home to three primary schools, one public college/high school, and two private schools. The Central Coast Council recently redeveloped the area to increase tourism. The Leven Bridge was replaced by a new one in 2011. Next, in June of the same year, a walking track was opened in Ulverstone, which stretches till Turners Beach.
