Dr Sinnathamby is a general surgeon specializing in breast cancer, colorectal cancer, trauma, and burns. He obtained his MBBS from Malaysia in 2000 and completed his general surgery training in 2008. With over a decade of experience, Dr Sinnathamby has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in his field.
After completing his training, Dr Sinnathamby worked independently as a Consultant General Surgeon, handling a wide variety of general surgery cases. Seeking to further his skills and knowledge, he migrated to Perth, Australia in 2012. There, he worked as a Breast and Oncoplastic Surgery Fellow in a high-volume Breast Unit in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and in the State Major Trauma Unit in Royal Perth Hospital.
In early 2017, Dr Sinnathamby was awarded the FRACS by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Following this achievement, he relocated to Darwin and became the Head of Breast Surgery Services at Royal Darwin Hospital. He also established private consultation rooms at Darwin Private Hospital. As an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Flinders University Darwin's College of Medicine and Public Health, Dr Sinnathamby is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and expertise with the next generation of medical professionals.
Dr Sinnathamby's practice encompasses a wide range of general surgery procedures, including laparoscopic surgery, bowel surgery, hernia repairs (both open and laparoscopic), thyroid and parathyroid conditions, vasectomy, and more. He has a particular interest in diagnostic and therapeutic surgery for benign and malignant breast conditions, as well as certain forms of reconstruction.
Dr Sinnathamby holds GESA accreditation for gastroscopy and colonoscopy, further enhancing his ability to provide comprehensive care to his patients. Additionally, his fluency in English, Malay, and Tamil allows him to effectively communicate with a diverse patient population.
