Dr Tu Tran is a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmologist, specialising in Cataract, Glaucoma, and Pterygium surgery. Currently practicing at Waverley Private Hospital in Springvale, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Dr Tran is renowned for her expertise in various ophthalmology procedures.
Dr Tran obtained her medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Queensland and further pursued training in ophthalmology in Cardiff, Wales. During her training, she had the privilege of working with some of the world's leading ophthalmology surgeons, gaining valuable insights and honing her surgical skills.
Her professional interests primarily revolve around glaucoma management, ocular surface diseases, and cataract surgery. Additionally, she specialises in the treatment of hemifacial spasm and blepharospasm through botulinum toxin injections. In addition to her medical degree, Dr Tran holds a Masters of Public Health (MPH) with a major in Epidemiology. She is an active member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and the Australian Medical Association. As a RANZCO examiner for the RACE and OBCK exams, she actively contributes to the training and evaluation of future ophthalmologists. Dr Tran also serves on the expert advisory panel for Glaucoma Australia, demonstrating her commitment to improving glaucoma management in the community.
Dr Tran underwent a glaucoma fellowship at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (RVEEH) in Melbourne after completing her general ophthalmology training. This fellowship allowed her to expand her knowledge and gain substantial expertise in managing challenging cataract surgeries and complex glaucoma cases. She continues to hold a visiting consultant ophthalmologist position at RVEEH, where she actively participates in teaching and mentoring optometrists, nurses, orthoptists, and ophthalmology fellows and registrars in glaucoma.
Driven by her dedication to community service, Dr Tran volunteers for Sight for All, a charity organization that focuses on training glaucoma surgery registrars in Southeast Asia. Through her involvement, she contributes to improving eye care services in underserved regions.
Dr Tran has presented numerous papers at various ophthalmology conferences, showcasing her exceptional research work and commitment to advancing the field of ophthalmology.
