Dr Stephen O'Callaghan is a highly experienced Obstetrician & Gynaecologist practicing at Darwin Private Hospital in Australia. He obtained his medical degree from the University of New South Wales in Sydney in 1982 and completed his training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Australia, England, and Iceland. He has been a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists since 1993 and was certified as a Subspecialist in Maternal-Fetal Medicine in 1997. Prior to moving to Darwin, Dr O'Callaghan worked at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, NSW, where he served as Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and then Director of Obstetrics. He has extensive experience in managing both normal and high-risk pregnancies, prenatal diagnosis, and obstetrical ultrasound. He was also an Examiner for the R.A.N.Z.C.O.G in Maternal-Fetal Medicine for over a decade. Dr O'Callaghan is a pioneer in using first-trimester screening for chromosomal disorders, which he introduced in Newcastle, NSW, in 1997. While in NSW, he was a member of the NSW Department of Health High Risk Obstetric Advisory Group (H.R.O.A.G.) and a recent NSW Department of Health Expert Advisory Group on Fetal Intravascular Transfusion. Today, he conducts his private obstetric practice at Darwin Private Hospital, where he provides exceptional care to his patients. With his broad experience and exceptional clinical skills, Dr O'Callaghan is a highly respected and valued member of the healthcare community.
