With over 4000 thyroidectomies and 1600 parathyroidectomies under his belt, Mr. Stephen Farrell is a highly experienced endocrine surgeon. He specializes in minimally invasive parathyroid surgery, laparoscopic or retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy, and minimally invasive thyroid surgery. His expertise spans across various endocrine conditions including thyroid nodule, multinodular goitre, Graves’ disease, thyroid cancer, Parathyroid adenoma, hyperparathyroidism, parathyroid cancer, Adrenal tumour, Conn’s syndrome, adrenal Cushing’s syndrome, phaeochromocytoma, paraganglioma, Adrenocortical carcinoma, Islet cell tumour, Insulinoma and Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia.
Mr. Farrell is affiliated with prestigious medical organizations such as ANZES, AAES and IAES, and regularly serves as a speaker at the RACS Annual Scientific Congress and faculty member for the ANZES Postgraduate Course in Endocrine Surgery. In 2008, Mr. Farrell convened the endocrine section of the RACS Annual Scientific Congress held in Hong Kong.
One of Mr. Farrell's particular areas of interest is Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia and other Endocrine Tumor Syndromes. He is a recognized expert in this field and has authored a chapter on the subject in the textbook ‘Endocrine Surgery’ edited by Pertsemlidis, Inabnet, and Gagner.
