Prof Peter Hewett

Prof. Peter Hewett, MBBS, FRACS, is a highly skilled and experienced general surgeon specialising in colorectal surgery. With a career spanning over three decades, Prof. Hewett has made significant contributions to his field. He received his Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Adelaide, Australia in 1980.

Prof. Hewett's expertise lies in the treatment of colorectal conditions, with a particular focus on bowel disorders. His clinical interests include the management of faecal incontinence, colonoscopy, upper GI endoscopy, and the treatment of haemorrhoids, including transanal haemorrhoidal dearterialisation and excisional haemorrhoidectomy.

In addition to these areas, Prof. Hewett is skilled in anal fistula repair, anal fissure treatment, sacral nerve stimulation, rectal prolapse repair, and colonic and rectal resections for cancer. He also specialises in the surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis, peritonectomy, heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy for pseudomyxoma peritonei, and abdominal mesothelioma.
