Dr. Awad is an acclaimed urological oncologist and surgeon with over two decades of experience in his field. He graduated from the University of New South Wales and went on to become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Urology. Dr. Awad is currently heading the Department of Urology in Port Macquarie. He holds various positions and memberships, such as being a member of the Special Advisory Group for Oncology, Urology Society of Australia and New Zealand, and a member of the Greater Metropolitan Clinical Task Force Committee for Urology. Additionally, Dr. Awad serves as a member of the Urology Committee of the New South Wales Oncology Group of the Cancer Institute of NSW, an instructor of skill training at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and a conjoint senior lecturer at the Rural School of Medicine, University of New South Wales. Dr. Awad has special interests in prostate and bladder cancer and is well-known for performing advanced laparoscopic surgery of the kidney and adrenal gland. He has also developed better biopsy techniques to increase prostate cancer detection rates. Among his notable achievements, Dr. Awad has performed the region's largest number of radical prostatectomies, radical cystectomies, and laparoscopic nephrectomies. In addition to being a member of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand and The American Urological Association, Dr. Awad is also a reviewer for the ANZ Journal of Surgery and "Prostate Cancer - Your Guide to the disease, treatment options, and outcomes." Dr. Awad is a trustee of the Jim Bruce Urology and Prostate Cancer Trust and serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Virtual Cancer Centre. Dr. Awad's international fellowships in Urological Cancer, coupled with his vast experience and special interests, make him one of the most sought-after urological oncologists and surgeons in his field.
