Dr Miguel Marquez

Dr Miguel Marquez is a dedicated Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialist with a strong focus on rural medicine. Born and raised in Uruguay, he completed one year of university studies in Australia before returning to his home country to continue his education. Dr Marquez eventually migrated back to Australia and embarked on his specialization in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Westmead Hospital, including three years of training at Dubbo Hospital.

Having experienced the unique challenges and rewards of working in a rural community, Dr Marquez developed a comprehensive understanding of the importance of a holistic approach to healthcare. In pursuit of his passion for rural medicine, he established his practice in Dubbo, where he initiated Dubbo's only Urodynamics Service. Furthermore, he traveled to Parkes, Cowra, and Mudgee to conduct clinics, extending his services to both public and private patients in various areas such as Obstetrics, General Gynaecology, Urogynaecology, IVF, and Minimal Invasive Surgery.

Dr Marquez's dedication to medical education is evident in his active involvement in training medical students, junior doctors, and nursing staff. He consistently presents at educational sessions for general practitioners, further contributing to the knowledge and skills of fellow healthcare professionals. Acknowledging his commitment, he holds a position as Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney's Medical School (Rural Health) and serves as part of the Board of Examiners at Diploma level for the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist (RANZCOG).

Currently serving as the training supervisor for RANZCOG trainees at Orange Health Services, Dr Marquez is actively involved in improving health services in the region. He also participates in various committees aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery. When he is not working or teaching, Dr Marquez values spending quality time with his four children and engaging in outdoor activities such as soccer, tennis, and hiking.
