Professor Jason Abbott, a leading gynecological surgeon and clinical academic, has established himself as an expert in his field of specialization both nationally and internationally. With his PhD thesis on endometriosis excisional surgery completed in 2003, he subsequently underwent training in Australia and the UK, performing over 10,000 surgical procedures. He has extensive knowledge in endometriosis, Asherman syndrome, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, fibroids, and gender-affirming surgery for trans-men (bottom surgery). As a clinical academic at UNSW, Professor Abbott has authored over 170 scientific papers, surgical guidelines, and position statements both nationally and internationally, and has supervised more than 20 Ph.D., masters, and honours students. He is an associate editor for ANZJOG and the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynaecology. Moreover, he is the former president of Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery (AGES) Society. Professor Abbott offers advanced hysteroscopic surgery, hysterectomy, and complex pelvic surgery for fibroids and endometriosis. He practices as an associate at Alana Healthcare, offering both private and public services at the Royal Hospital for Women and the Prince of Wales Private Hospital. With his expertise in an interdisciplinary team with colo-rectal surgeons, urologists, plastic, cardio-thoracic surgeons, and anesthesiologists, he offers comprehensive intra-operative, post-operative, and follow-up care is an essential aspect of his approach. Finally, Professor Abbott also heads the GRACE Research Unit at the Royal Hospital for Women and UNSW Sydney, adding significantly to the medical community's advances in gynecology.
