Dr Ihab El-Sokkari

Dr Ihab El-Sokkari is a vastly experienced and reputable cardiologist based in Penrith, Sydney, Australia. With a primary focus on cardiology, he is recognized for his expertise in general cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, cardiac device implantation and follow-up (such as pacemakers, defibrillators, and loop recorders), and ablative procedures for cardiac arrhythmia.

Dr El-Sokkari's extensive medical education and training began with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBCh) degree. He further pursued his specialization in cardiology, completing his training through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) at esteemed hospitals, including Prince of Wales, Gosford, and Royal North Shore Hospitals. In 2013, he achieved fellowship status with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), solidifying his position as a knowledgeable and skilled general cardiologist.

Driven by his thirst for knowledge and cutting-edge advancements in cardiac electrophysiology, Dr El-Sokkari undertook advanced training, spending three years specialising in this field at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney and Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, Canada. After completing his overseas fellowship, he returned to Australia, where he held consultant cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist positions at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. Currently, he leads the expansion of the cardiac electrophysiology services at Nepean Hospital since his appointment in 2020.

In addition to his clinical commitments, Dr El-Sokkari maintains a strong research focus, dedicated to advancing the field of cardiology through innovation and evidence-based practice. He obtained a Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney in 2014. Throughout his career, he has presented and published numerous research projects, both nationally and internationally, showcasing his commitment to staying at the forefront of medical advancements.
