Ben Markman

Dr Ben Markman is a highly skilled and accomplished Medical Oncologist based in Malvern, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. With expertise in treating cancers of the lung, gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary system, and melanoma, he is recognised for his dedication to providing his patients with the most advanced and effective treatment options available.

Dr Markman obtained his Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Honours from Monash University in 1997. He went on to complete his specialist training in medical oncology through the Victorian Medical Oncology Training Program. In pursuit of further knowledge and skills, he completed a fellowship in early stage clinical trials and translational research at a renowned institution in Barcelona, Spain. This experience allowed him to acquire valuable expertise in drug development processes crucial to the development of novel cancer therapies.

Throughout his career, Dr Markman has actively engaged in both clinical practice and research. In 2010, he joined the PASO team as a consultant Medical Oncologist. He has established himself as an authority in his areas of special interest, which include lung, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary tumour streams, as well as all stages of clinical trials. He is dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to all his patients, whether they are receiving treatment through the public or private healthcare sectors.

Dr Markman also holds a key position at the Monash Cancer Centre, Monash Health, where he heads the Phase I Clinical Trials Program. This role allows him to contribute to the development of cutting-edge cancer treatments and offer his patients access to innovative therapies. Additionally, Dr Markman is fluent in Spanish, enabling him to effectively communicate with a diverse range of patients.
