Dr Andris Ellims is a highly skilled Cardiologist and Cardiac Imaging Specialist based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. He is the founder of Victoria Heart and practices at The Avenue Hospital and the Alfred Hospital.
Dr Ellims graduated with First Class Honours as the Top Student from the University of Melbourne, where he obtained his Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. Following his undergraduate studies, he received Advanced Training in Cardiology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He then pursued further specialization in Cardiac Imaging, including echocardiography, CT, and MRI, and completed a Fellowship in Cardiac Imaging at the Alfred Hospital.
Recognizing the need for specialised care for patients with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), Dr Ellims established Victoria's first dedicated clinic for this condition, known as the HCM Clinic at The Alfred.
In recognition of his exceptional research contributions to the field of cardiology, Dr Ellims was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Monash University. His research, conducted at the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute, focused on utilizing cardiac imaging techniques to evaluate various cardiomyopathies. The findings from his research have been published in several reputable scientific journals, and he has also presented his original research at numerous national and international scientific congresses.
Dr Ellims is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP), further establishing his expertise in the field of cardiology. He holds a strong interest in Echocardiography, Cardiac CT, Cardiac MRI, and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.
