Alasdair is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon with a passion for shoulder, hip, knee, sports injury, and fracture surgeries. Based in Shepparton Private Hospital, he is dedicated to the highest quality patient care, sharing the clinic with fellow surgeon Ian Critchley. Alasdair began his surgical career in the UK, where he became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2004. He later migrated to Adelaide, where he underwent further training, including the Villis R Marshall Orthopaedic Fellowship. Alasdair also holds a Graduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine from Flinders University, which provides a wealth of knowledge on non-surgical management of orthopaedic conditions.
Alasdair's specialty training included completing the Royal London Hospital Training Program from 2007 to 2013. In 2014, he returned to Adelaide for further subspecialty training in trauma, shoulder, knee, hip, and foot & ankle surgery at Flinders Medical Centre and The Repatriation Hospital. Alasdair eventually accepted an Orthopaedic Consultant position in 2017 at GV Health in Shepparton and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Australia in 2018.
Beyond his surgical work, Alasdair is passionate about training and educating future surgeons. In addition to acting as an Instructor on the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons' Early Management of Severe Trauma Course, he's also an Honorary Clinical Tutor with the Rural Clinical School of The University of Melbourne.
When he's not in surgery, Alasdair can be found coaching a junior hockey team. He's a former competitive hockey player and now enjoys other sports like running, swimming, golf, and windsurfing. Alasdair is an integral member of the orthopaedic community, with affiliations in AO Trauma and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
