Dr Akhilesh Tiwari

Dr Akhilesh Tiwari is an accomplished anaesthesia and pain medicine specialist with extensive experience in managing all types of chronic pain. He completed his initial training in India before moving to the National University Hospital in Singapore, where he worked as a clinical fellow in Anaesthesia and Chronic Pain. Following this, he moved to Canada where he worked for three years at several hospitals affiliated with the University of Toronto. During his tenure in Canada, he received advanced training in ultrasound-guided pain management techniques and nerve blocks. In 2016, he joined the Townsville University Hospital in Australia where he obtained his specialist qualification in chronic pain (FFPMANZCA).

Dr Tiwari's expertise and experience have led him to participate in numerous research studies in pain management, which have been published in multiple peer-reviewed indexed journals and presented at various medical conferences. His research interests include the role of ultrasound as a diagnostic and therapeutic modality in pain management and interventional techniques for low back pain and chronic post-surgical pain.

Dr Tiwari is currently working as a specialist in pain medicine at the Townsville University Hospital. He also consults from two other locations, the Livewell Pain Management Clinic in Townsville and the Precision Brain, Spine, and Pain Clinic in Gold Coast. He is skilled in several advanced pain interventions like nerve blocks, epidural injections, radiofrequency ablations and advanced neuromodulation techniques like spinal cord stimulators. Dr Tiwari collaborates closely with his patients and their general practitioners to ensure that the formulated pain management plans are initiated promptly.

Besides his professional work, Dr Tiwari enjoys spending quality time with his family. He is an avid traveler and thoroughly enjoys playing basketball, cricket, table tennis, and cycling.
