Dr Vishal Kaushik

Dr. Vishal Y. Kaushik is a Senior Medical Officer at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH), where he leads Nutrition services for Queensland. His role, which began in April 2019, covers a wide geographical area north of the Brisbane River, and includes expertise in telehealth. Dr. Kaushik is also involved in other gastroenterological diseases, with his work encompassing endoscopies, general gastroenterology clinics, inpatient ward rounds, and on-call duties. Before moving to Australia, Dr. Kaushik served as a consultant in Gastroenterology in Lancashire, UK, for 16 years. During his time in the UK, he held several notable roles, including being a member of the Practitioners Tribunal Service organized by the General Medical Council (GMC), a clinical advisor to the Healthcare Parliamentary Ombudsman, and a Royal College Tutor. He also completed an MA in Healthcare Law and Ethics and is a Fellow of both the American Gastroenterology Association and the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Dr. Kaushik's approach to patient care is centered on empathy and involvement, prioritizing the health needs of his patients by listening, understanding their feelings, and involving them in decision-making regarding their treatment.
