Dr Shivanthi Kandiah

Dr Shivanthi Kandiah is a General and Endocrine Surgeon with extensive training and clinical experience across Australia and the United Kingdom. She completed her undergraduate medical degree at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology. She also holds a Master of Laws in Medical Law and Ethics from the University of London. Her surgical training began in Queensland, where she completed General Surgical training in 2019. Following this, Dr Kandiah undertook the prestigious Head & Neck and Endocrine Fellowship at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney, refining her skills in thyroid, parathyroid, and other endocrine-related surgical procedures. She further advanced her expertise by completing the Royal College of Surgeons England Thyroid and Parathyroid Fellowship at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in the UK. In 2021, she remained in the UK, working as an Emergency General Surgery Consultant at St James’ Hospital in Leeds, managing a wide range of acute surgical conditions. Since returning to Queensland, Dr Kandiah has been a Staff Specialist within the Metro South Health Service, providing surgical care at Logan Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, and Redland Hospital. She also offers private surgical services at Mater Private Hospital Redlands. Her professional qualifications include FRACS (General Surgery), MBBS (London), BSc (Anatomy and Cell Biology, London), MRCS (Edinburgh), and LLM (London). Dr Kandiah’s special interest lies in endocrine surgery, and she is an active member of the Australian and New Zealand Endocrine Surgeons (ANZES) and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS).
