Peter Eckhardt

Peter Eckhardt is a highly respected Practice Director and APA Sports Physiotherapist, boasting an impressive background in physiotherapy that spans several decades. Since 2001, Peter has distinguished himself as an APA Sports Physiotherapist through extensive postgraduate education and practical experience. His deep-rooted passion for sports, particularly whitewater canoeing, has profoundly influenced his career trajectory. Competing nationally and internationally, Peter proudly represented Australia at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Even today, he embraces the thrill of navigating Tasmania’s rugged whitewater rivers, seamlessly blending his love for canoeing with an enthusiasm for surfing. Throughout his illustrious career, Peter has had the honor of serving as a physiotherapist for the Australian Olympic Team during the 1996, 2000, and 2004 Games, culminating in his role as Head Physiotherapist for the Beijing Olympics in 2008. His clinical expertise is particularly focused on the assessment and treatment of shoulder and knee injuries, as well as sports-related injuries prevalent in rowing, canoeing, and football. In recent years, Peter has dedicated himself to assisting patients in their recovery following orthopedic surgeries, with a particular emphasis on shoulder rehabilitation. In addition to his clinical practice, Peter is a passionate mentor and educator within the physiotherapy community.
