Dr. Hazel Serrao-Brown is an Endocrine and General Surgeon practicing in Deakin, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. She completed specialist training as the TS Reeve International Endocrine Surgery Fellow at the University of Sydney Endocrine Surgery Unit, working under Prof Mark Sywak and Prof Stan Sidhu. Dr. Serrao-Brown is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and holds specialist accreditation in gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Her practice focuses on both endocrine and general surgery.
She manages a range of endocrine surgical conditions, including thyroid disorders such as thyroid cancer, thyroid nodules, Graves’ disease, toxic goitre, and also performs radiofrequency ablation for thyroid conditions. She treats parathyroid disease, adrenal lesions, and hyperparathyroidism. In general surgery, she performs laparoscopic procedures including gallbladder removal, hernia repair, and appendix surgery. She holds a Master of Public Health and a Master of Surgery with Distinction from the University of Newcastle. She has published research in peer-reviewed journals, with work on medullary thyroid cancer and robotic adrenalectomy. She is also a co-author of a book chapter on parathyroid surgery.
